Smishing Vishing

Smishing

Smishing is short form for SMS Phishing. Smishing is a variant of phishing email attacks that utilizes Short Message Service (SMS) to send bogus text messages. Smishing attacks seek to direct the text message recipient (victim) to visit a website or call a phone number, at which point the victim is enticed to provide sensitive information such as User ID, Passwords, ATM PIN, or CVV etc.

Vishing

It is telephone equivalent of phishing. Vishing is the act of using the telephone in an attempt to fool the victim into providing private information (such as- User ID, Passwords, ATM PIN, or CVV etc.), that will be used for identity theft. The attacker usually pretends to be a legitimate business representative and fools the victim into thinking he or she will profit.
